Issue #10 — Mario
Hi everyone
Great to see a spike in newcomers after Ryan’s announcement to the Rastrack community. If you just joined – welcome!
Ryan’s just added a live stream of his fish tank to his website – powered by a Raspberry Pi, of course. He says there’ll be a blog post on how he did it soon.
There have been a handful of fundraisers for Raspberry Pi computer labs, based on ideas similar to the one seen in the RPF blog post ‘Bringing computing to rural Cameroon‘ back in April. I spotted another one this morning on TechCrunch – a relatively small amount of funding sought for a school in Sidvokodvo, Swaziland. The Foundation must be very proud that their project is making computing, programming and computer science available to the poorest of people.
The Manchester Raspberry Jam Ben ran last weekend was great fun – plenty of new first timers, and had nearly 50% children. Lots of interesting projects and learning going on as usual.

For less than the cost of two MacBooks, an entire school can gain access to a computer lab for the first time.
